How can i stop my 11 weeks old Maltese from biting the newspaper when I paper train it?
my puppy loves to bite the newspaper and i tried to use puppy trainer lotion. however, it plays with the newspaper and pass motion elsewhere. how can i stop it?
Teach your pup a command for leave. If the pup attempts to bite the newspaper in a calm but firm voice say *leave*. If the pup understands the command & does not obey, do not repeat the command as the pup would learn that it can ignore you.
Remove the pup from the newspaper & give it something it can play with.
If you are toilet training the pup indoors, you may want to consider forgoing paper training inside & take the pup outside to the area designated as its toilet area. When the pup wakes up & after it has been fed, it will need to go outside. Other than that approximately every four hours.
Crates are a good way of helping to toilet train a puppy, if they are left in there for no more than around four hours. A pup will see its crate as a den & is unlikely to use it as a toilet.
